Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Whether chronic or acute, allergies are one of the conditions that can be considered debilitating and sometimes embarrassing. Why? Because usually, it brings about rashes, spots on the skin and undesirable manifestations like sneezing. Mostly you can find over the counter anti-allergies for your relief and for severe conditions, there are prescription drugs that you can also obtain.

Treatment like medications used for allergies usually provide temporary relief, you need to determine the real cause, the root cause and treat it from there else, the symptoms will just go in cycles. Go to the doctor for proper assessment and treatment.

Hydroxycut Reviews

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Hydroxycut is one of the most interesting diet products I have ever used. Not only does Hydroxycut help you shed those extra pounds, it is not a diet pill! Hydroxycut comes in two forms, powder and a liquid weight loss shot. I tried both, and found that the powder was cheaper, but did not provide me the same results the the energy shot did. The weight loss shots have an energy boost, and help control your appetite while still allowing you to lose weight. This really is the best of both world’s, because you will not feel the need to eat while you are burning those pounds off your body. Taking two weight loss shots a day, and eat a couple healthy regular meals allowed me to lose over 40 pounds in just 4 weeks! I was amazed at how much weight I lost when taking Hydroxycut, I looked like my old self once again

I have been trying to lose these fifty extra pounds I put on after college for years. Having tried everything from dieting, to exercise to diet pills I was looking for something different that would allow me to take the weight off, and keep it off. I finally found Hydroxycut. I used the powder form of Hydroxycut, and not only did it work, it kept the weight off! With every previous weight loss idea I had tried, I was unable to keep the weight off. I was skeptical that something like Hydroxycut would actually work for me, after trying everything in the book. However, I took Hydroxycut on a regular basis and was able to cut my 50 pounds off in just under 2 months. Without using Hydroxycut I would never have been able to do this, try Hydroxycut now to get rid of your excess weight.

Dieting couldn’t be a better idea right now. With so many Americans being unemployed, you may be looking for something to do with your spare time. I was laid off from my job, so I decided that I could stand to lose some extra weight. I was skeptical at first, as I had never been able to constantly exercise in the past, and all my diets fell apart. However, I was able to find Hydroxycut, an amazing natural powder or weight loss shot that helped me lose the weight that I wanted. I was not sure I could afford Hydroxycut at first, however, after looking at the details, I was able to order in bulk and really shed the savings. Not only did Hydroxycut help me keep my weight off, it is helping me get back to my old image, and what I want to be. After losing my excess weight, many potential employers commented that they were happy that I had taken such a personal interest in my health. Finally, one of my employers hired me because I was so healthy, and was able to fulfill the job more often than one of their sick employees!

Living with DIABETES (Continue)

Travel

Travel is a part of the spice of life . A little change of scene is as good for diabetics as for nondiabetics . along with a change of scene , however , comes a change in personal care routines . As a diabetic you should plan for changes in your routines ahead of time by consulting your health care team . Plan as far ahead as possible .

  • Carry enough supplies with you so that , if you stay away longer than you originally plan , you won’t have to look for supplies .
  • In a separate case , carry your urine or blood testing equipment as well as insulin , syringes and swabs . Don’t pack these items in luggage that you check on a plane , train or a bus .
  • Carry identification indicating that you have diabetes and information about your medication and dosage. Carry a prescription from your doctor for your insulin and syringes . Carry antinausea medication as well as medication to relieve possible vomiting and diarrhea .
  • Plan to alter your meal according to your travel plans . For example , when travelling by car , plan on having extra food supplies with you to avoid an insulin reaction . You can keep hard candy , raisins , graham crackers , or fruit candy .
  • Store your insulin in a cool place such as inside the car with you rather than in a trunk or glove compartment , where it might be extremely warm or exposed to heat or sun .
  • If you are flying , be prepared to change your insulin injection procedure if you need to have an insulin injection while in the air . Plan on putting about half the usual amount of air into your insulin bottle to balance for pressure in the cabin in a high altitude flight .
  • Be aware of changing time zones and administer your insulin injections and have your meals on your home time rather than according to the time zone you are in . Your health care team will assist you in planning ahead for time zone changes of two hours or more .
  • Because travelling causes special stresses , it will be important to continue testing your glucose levels frequently to be sure that your diabetes in under control . If you notice high sugar readings , try to exercise more and reduce your intake of carbohydrates . Your health care team will give you instructions t follow regarding changes in insulin doses if your glucose level can’t be controlled with exercise and carbohydrates.

Eating Out

Eating out can fun for you as well as your companions . The difference is that you , as a diabetic , will want to remember to fit your eating out into your overall meal plan and allotted exchanges for each day . You will want to be careful to keep high sugar foods at a minimum and avoid highly salted foods . Watch portion sizes so that you do not unknowingly consume too many calories during one meal .

  • Become familiar with your meal plan . Know it well . If you can’t remember it all , carry a copy with you . Become familiar with foods and portion sizes on your exchange lists .
  • Ask question about how food is prepared before you order it . Try to advise your hosts or the restaurants you patronize that you have diabetes to avoid meal delays and inappropriate meals .
  • When you know that there will be a wait for a table in a restaurant or at a group meal , such as banquet , carry a snack to eat while waiting but then plan to eliminate part of meal to account for the snack in your total daily calorie intake .
  • Ask local restaurant owners to provide more menu variety , more salad bars , and better beverage choices . Be a strong consumer and make your desire and your needs known .
  • Ask for substitutions in restaurants . If appropriate foods are part of meal , ask for another food in their place or simply skip some foods but maintain the calories and balance of your meal . Choose food that are not prepared with sauces or gravies . Try to avoid breaded or creamed dishes ; they are likely to be higher in calories then plainer foods .

Care of Elderly Diabetics

Some older persons with diabetes find the routine of their diabetic care stressful and sometimes fail to comply with recommendations for control of their disease . If you have an older relative in your household who requires special attention to diabetic control , you can be supportive by reinforcing the physicians instructions , emphasizing the need for constant control of the disease , and assisting the person in personal care routines . Careful bathing and care of feet and teeth may prevent damaging infections .

Many elderly diabetics have chronic ill health and find some assistance by social service and home health care groups helpful . Some who are unable to continue living in their homes , caring for themselves , considered moving into sheltered care facilities . Elderly persons living in retirement hotels or nursing homes should make their diabetic needs known to the staff nurses and others in charge so that meals and lifestyle will be conducive to control this disease .

Get accurate vision with contact lenses

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

A contact lens or contacts is a lens that is placed over the cornea in the eye. It is typically used as a corrective device in place of spectacles or as a cosmetic (to temporarily change the color of the eyes) or as a therapeutic device to correct some conditions like squint. There are colorless as well as colored contact lenses. Daily disposable, weekly disposable and monthly disposable contact lenses are available. Contact lenses that can be cleaned every day and used for 2 to 3 years are also used.

Erase Ugly Varicose Veins and Spider Veins with Sclerotherapy

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Here are some facts about legs: 30 to 40 percent of the adult population suffers from varicose veins. Eighty percent of women all over the world have spider veins.

What is the difference between the two? Spider veins are those tiny network veins that are usually blue and magenta in color. They commonly appear ion the ankle, thigh and calf and make legs look a macabre road map. Varicose veins, on the other hand, are the ugly, big green veins which look like fat worms crawling all over your leg.

Anyway we look at it, both kinds of veins are ugly and unsightly. More important, they are not a necessary part of the vascular system and are better of removed. Getting rid of these veins help improve health by making blood circulation more efficient. These veins are sites of stagnant blood which could produce blood clots and infections.

Can these unsightly veins be removed? But of course. As early as the second century A.D., men of medicine were already concerned about these extraneous veins as health hazards. Galen used surgical treatment which consisted of tearing out the veins with hooks. In the seventh century, Aeginata tried to improve on the procedure by tying off the vein instead (surgical litigation).

Today, medical science has come a long way. There is a way to get rid of ugly varicose spider veins without surgery. It is called sclerotherapy.

Sclerotherapy is an in-office procedure that dates back to the 1800s and involves the injection of a solution that irritates the lining of the blood vessel walls, causing them to collapse inward. When blood can no longer pass through, the vessel turns to scar tissue and is absorbed by the body.

The modern method uses tiny needles to inject a solution from Germany into the offending veins. The procedure starts by using an ultrasound Doppler machine to pinpoint the main source of the problem.

The whole thigh is scanned and the sound indicates where the main defect is. Then, a solution (Polidocanol, which is pain-free) is injected straight into the patient’s vein.

Patients who have undergone sclerotherapy say the injection feels just like an ant bite because the needles used are finer than a strand of hair. After the injection, pressure is applied on the affected area with cotton wedges and classic bandage. The patient must wear these bandages for three days.

Patients, however, are encouraged to walk, shop, and even go dancing after undergoing the procedure. The whole session lasts 20 to 30 minutes and must be repeated every three weeks. Actually, the doctor will evaluate the extent of the problem and prescribe the number of sessions required. The average person needs some 4 to 5 sessions of sclerotherapy.

The most common cause of varicose and spider vein is genetics. Genes from either parent may make one’s body produce extra, unnecessary veins.

An increase in female hormones (via the use of birth control or hormone replacement pills), excessive weigh gain, having a job that requires one to keep standing for a long time can also result in varicose pr spider veins. These factors tend to apply more pressure on already defective veins and cause them to branch out more.

How To Control High Blood Pressure With Ease

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Contrary to popular belief, controlling your blood pressure is actually one of the simplest things to do, as long as you know the fundamentals. Controlling blood pressure has a lot to do with both your drinking and your eating habits.

Try this: stand in front of a mirror and look at your entire body, not just your face. Within your body lies your entire future. Do you think your body will survive for very long if you keep consuming things without putting any thought into it, just because they taste good? Did you know that people who are overweight have a much higher chance of getting a stroke? Do you regularly get on a scale to check your body weight?

Have you ever stood on a weighing scale and realized that you had gained fifteen pounds of fat in a span of two months? If you have, did you just ignore it? If you ignored it, why did you? Seeing such a weight gain should have put you into shock and in turn made you take action. If you don’t even know how much you weigh right now, the least you can do at this very moment is check your weight and find out what your ideal weight is supposed to be.

It is important to be very careful about what you consume since it proportionately and directly correlates to your overall blood pressure. A lot of people believe that salt is a very important factor in anyone’s diet, and this may be true for some, but it is not true for you. If anything, you need to greatly cut down on your salt intake, ideally before your doctor even advises you to. Stay away from friend and salty food, and try to construct a diet that is very low in saturated fat.

There are two well-known remedies to effectively control high blood pressure: lemon and butter milk. Lemon peel is very effective when it comes to controlling high blood pressure; and butter milk, when taken regularly, is very good in treating both high blood pressure and low blood pressure. Shredded lemon peels can simply be added to stews or soup, or can even be sprinkled on salads.

Another thing: have you stopped drinking alcohol yet? If you have made the decision and actually pulled through with it, then I applaud you. But if you believe that you are not capable of going cold turkey on the booze, then try to at least lessen your alcohol intake for now. Limit yourself to having only one drink per day. If your personal doctor is already carefully monitoring your drinking habits, make sure that you strictly adhere to his or her instructions. Do not take breaks from consuming your required medications and make sure you always have enough of it in stock in advance. If your doctor insists on giving you a check-up on a specific date, ensure that you go on the date specified and don’t put the check-up off, not even for day.

Your personal doctor should also have given you strict indications on a physical exercise regime that is beneficial to your health, such as a daily morning walk, light stretching exercises, or light aerobic exercises. Adhere to the schedule and sincerely follow it. Your personal doctor is sure to have hundreds of patients just like you and he or she would know what is best to do in order to deal with your high blood pressure, so make sure you heed his or her advice and completely comprehend his or her chosen treatment methods.

Also ensure that you get regular check-ups on your blood pressure; this is very important. Have some sort of arrangement available at home, such as charts of when your check-ups should be; this could greatly help your personal doctor in treating your case. Let everybody in the family, such as your wife and children, accompany you for check-ups, even if they themselves do not suffer from high blood pressure.

If you are required to take extra care in keeping a balanced diet and exercising properly and correctly, make sure you stop worrying about things you don’t need to and live a normal and relaxed life like anyone else would. This is the key to happiness despite your ailment.

Fight mesothelioma with the right lawyer

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Mesothelioma is a condition in which cancerous cells form in the mesothelium, a sac around the internal organs of the body. The two primary types of mesothelioma are pleural mesothelioma and peritoneal mesothelioma. The known cause for mesothelioma is direct or indirect exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma is treated with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation as chief treatment options. There are also alternative therapies present for this type of cancer.

Legal recourse is an option that is available to mesothelioma patients. In many cases, large compensation has been awarded to the affected party and their families. If the patients can prove that their condition has been caused due to asbestos exposure at a particular, in a particular place, from a specific source, then it is possible to build a case and file a suit against the party responsible for this. Mesothelioma lawyers who specialize in Mesothelioma cases can be chosen after their credentials are verified.

Opting to take legal action could be a good idea because it can ease the financial pressures on the patient and his family, when a claim is granted from the lawsuit. Lawyers with their vast experience in dealing with mesothelioma patients can be a very good source of information for the patient himself not only with regard to the best course to follow in the legal case but also the best doctors and treatments. The patient needs to be aware of a statute that a lawsuit has to be filed within a specific time from the date of diagnosis.

Seven Facts You Should Know Before You Leap Into Liposuction

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

If you are thinking about having liposuction, it is important to keep these factors in mind:

  1. Liposuction is not a way to lose weight or to kick off a weight-loss program. You will not lose more than four or five pounds. In fact, for some people, there is no weight loss after the procedure.
  2. Liposuction will not remove cellulite. In fact, if an inexperienced physician takes fat from too close to the skin, he may create a dimpled and uneven texture that looks like cellulite.
  3. Liposuction may not be covered by insurance unless there is a medical need, such as the removal of sweat glands underneath the arm in someone who sweats profusely or the removal of liposomes-fatty deposits on a nerve or blood vessel.
  4. Some areas of your body will respond better than others. Breasts, inner thighs and upper arms are the areas least likely to achieve smooth, symmetrical results.
  5. You can gain weight after liposuction. Even though the area that was suctioned will not get fatter (fat cells rarely multiply), if you overeat you will gain weight in other areas. Some women say they are pleasantly surprised to gain weight in their breasts. Others say excess weight shows up in less desirable locations – on the back. Shoulders or upper arms, for example.
  6. If you want to liposuction areas all over your body at the same time – your stomach, thighs, upper arms, neck and calves – you do not need liposuction, you need a diet.
  7. Find a doctor who has done the procedure several hundred times before. Ask to see before and after photographs of his patients. If he does not have any or will not show you, find another doctor.

A historical note: The surgical removal of fat was inaugurated in the late 1960s in Paris. Excess fat was literally scraped from the skin using a scalpel-like tool. The procedure left a lot of dimpling and scarring on the skin, and it caused tremendous blood loss in some. One of the fist cases had tragic results – a ballerina who was having her calves reduced lost her leg because of infection.
