If there are many suggestions and tips regarding health, you can also find a lot of misleading assumptions when it comes to staying healthy. These misconceptions about practices and steps to maintain good health can be dangerous to people. Furthermore, these fallacies may cause harmful diseases when performed inappropriately.

Most people have a notion that eating a lot without moderation while still young is rational. This is because of the idea that young bodies can take the effects of bad nutrition and the body can still repair itself in the future. However, it is difficult to determine the exact age the body can no longer restore its best health status. For instance, consuming foods that are high in cholesterol have bad effects to the arteries and in the long run, this would lead to serious health risks such as heart attack and stroke.

The fact that aging is a natural part of life and it is something that cannot be prevented, some people tend to think that introducing free radicals and toxins into the body is reasonable. However, what you eat even early in life will eventually have a great effect on your body.

A lot of people believe that avoiding carbohydrates such as rice, breads and other starchy foods can help in losing weight. Although these foods are rich in calories, lack of carbohydrates cannot help in weight loss. There are certain body parts that need some essential nutrients including carbohydrates in rice and vitamin B complex in starchy foods.

An extreme misconception is the idea that skipping meals can help in weight loss but remember that starving yourself will result to the development of ulcer in the gastrointestinal area. In skipping meals, your body will be deprived of essential nutrients, which are needed to keep good health.
